![]() ![]() We admit this is not the most straightforward issue to resolve. Also, the cylinder improperly connecting with the plugs can be the culprit. It could get so bad at idle that it becomes really challenging to steer the boat in some cases.įrequently, this problem can be traced to a faulty thermostat. Often, when the engine goes around 1550-1900 RPMs, the engine appears to be roughing. Several Suzuki outboard engine owners complained of their engines not running smoothly at lower RPMs. Suzuki outboard engine not running smoothly at idle If the damage is more severe, say there is a shaft misalignment, you may need a specialist marine mechanic to get things back to shape. If yes, you can right things by tightening your mounting bolt or the steering pivot. If your propeller is not outrightly damaged, check if it is loose. If you are traversing such waters, regularly inspect your propeller. Also, such propeller entangling can occur if the water is not deep enough. This is not uncommon if too many boats pass the water your boat plies. In other scenarios, the propeller could mash up with seaweed. Your propeller can get entangled with your fishing line. If yes, the resultant unbalanced propulsion can trigger such outboard vibrations.Īnother common reason why your Suzuki outboard vibrates uncomfortably is the propeller’s rotation is restricted. The first step is inspecting your propeller to see if it is damaged or bent. You can know if a bad propeller is causing your Suzuki outboard vibration if the vibrations get higher when your propeller’s RPM increases. ![]() This could be the propeller being obstructed, loose, or outrightly damaged. The most common reason is a faulty propeller. We have noticed significant vibration from Suzuki’s 4-strokes engines. Suzuki Outboard Engine vibratingĮvery motorboat enthusiast agrees that nothing spoils the fun as much as a vibrating engine. Preferably, use a fabric with impressive UV resistance for covering it. In the case where you can’t store it away from sunlight, just spread a cover over the engine. When your Suzuki engine is directly exposed to UV radiation, the rubber parts would gradually degrade, just as the exterior plastic. Some can hurt your plastic.Īnother tip for preventing or reducing corrosion in your Suzuki outboard is preventing the engine from being directly exposed to solar radiation. It is worth reminding you to be selective of the silicone spray you use. So preferably, you must have turned your engine off for a while.Īfter removing the hood, get a bit of silicone spray on the powerhead. Note that the engine needs to be cool enough for you to do this. The hose clamp is another spot where you can expect corrosion on your Suzuki outboard.Īfter every second trip, we recommend that you take off your outboard hood. This would manifest in exhaust leaks and a corroding engine. This results in the exhaust being handicapped. We have found Suzuki outboard corrosion being triggered by a bad design in some instances. Not every incidence of corrosion in Suzuki outboard results from a rusting engine mount, either. Such rusting will wreak significant havoc on your engine mounting position. This is common when your engine mount begins to deteriorate.Ī rusting engine is particularly catastrophic given how badly it damages your boat trimming. Of course, corrosion results from your engine rusting. Commonly, after such painful stalling, the engine would fail to idle. You can tell when your engine persistently stalls at neutral. ![]() How can you tell your Suzuki outboard is corroding? Our investigations reveal corrosion is one of the most prominent issues with Suzuki outboard engines. How about we dive deeper into these problems mentioned above? More interestingly, wouldn’t you like to learn how to troubleshoot and resolve them? These problems don’t discredit the credibility of Suzuki outboard engines, as the brand has some of the most durable 4-stroke outboard motors we have ever seen. We found the most prevalent issues with Suzuki outboard motors include vibrations, power loss, motor starting failure, corrosion, and motor overheating. But what are some of the typical problems you can expect from your Suzuki outboard? Ranging from 2.5hp-300hp, these outboards are quickly becoming favorites of boating enthusiasts. Suzuki outboards have been gradually permeating the market since 1994 when Suzuki Marine produced its maiden 4-stroke outboard engine. ![]() ![]() ![]() Which English words would you like to study? When Shifty came forward, I got up out of the seat and told him I wanted him to have it, that I'd take his in coach. I sent the flight attendant back to get him and said that I wanted to switch seats. I helped Shifty get onto the plane and then realized he was back in Coach, while I was in First Class. And it's real sad because these days so few of the guys are left, and those that are, lots of them can't make the trip." My heart was in my throat and I didn't know what to say. Making conversation, I asked him if he'd been in the 101st Airborne or if his son was serving. I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell "Shifty" Powers. "We're hearing a lot today about big splashy memorial services. It's kind of long, but I suggest you read it it's so true and so moving. I'll close this with what the author closed the book with, an email written by a man named Mark Pfeifer. You don't meet too many people like him anymore. That, that right there, shows me what kind of man Shifty Powers was. All the way back, I've always enjoyed it." That's always what really mattered to me. But to me, success is those happy times with my family, being able to go fishing and hunting, and just getting out in the woods and enjoying yourself, looking at trees, watching water go across rocks in a trout stream, things like that. Now, I worked hard, and if I wanted something, I liked being able to afford it. "Throughout my lifetime, I've never given a thought to having piles of money or being rich or doing anything like that. Here's a quote from the book "We Who Are Alive and Remain:" I want to achieve that kind of mindset about life. What mattered was the simple things the most important things. Shifty had such a simple way of living life. The author took extreme pains to write this book, reading many books by others to find out more about Shifty, listening to interviews of Shifty, talking to Peter Youngblood Hills (who played Shifty in the miniseries), taking things Shifty told him during the writing of the book "We Who Are Alive and Remain" (an excellent read, and one of my favorites on Easy Company). Shifty didn't actually write it, and I think that's okay. I mean, Shifty's son came to Marcus Brotherton and asked him to write a book about his beloved dad, so if he can trust him, I think we can.Īnd because of the superb job the author did, I had to remind myself that this is an authorized biography. He would never have put words into Shifty's mouth that he didn't feel would come from Shifty's heart. The author wrote this with the utmost respect, I know. It was written near perfectly to sound just like Shifty. I'm always cautious about books like this, and can you blame me?Īfter the first few chapters though, I began to relax and realize that this is probably what Shifty would have written. I was a little wary, because after I got this book I found out it wasn't actually written by Shifty, but by Marcus Brotherton, in Shifty's voice. Boy, was I ready to bawl when I finished this book! I do not know what it is about Easy Company that I love so much, but I cry just about every time I finish a book about one of the members or the whole company. ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve always thought of Jung Woo-sung as a Korean version of Keanu Reeves: a gorgeous-looking monotonous actor who has a bland face with an emotional spectrum of a teacup - and not the one from “Beauty and the Beast” because that one was actually pretty solid. In what appears to be a slam-dunk case, Sun-ho pursues the truth by attempting to crack into Ji-woo’s world. ![]() Also, all the negatives aside, the sub-plot of Soon-ho and his father is funny, heart-warming in a surprisingly natural way with excellent chemistry between the two characters one could even say that it deserves a movie of its own.The only piece of evidence damning the defendant is testimony by autistic 15-year-old Ji-woo, who witnessed the entire incident across the street from her window. Similarly, Jung Woo-sung manages to stay afloat with his neither-here-nor-there character, making him likeable to the audience even while his character’s intentions are not entirely pure. It is obvious that she approached her character meticulously and put in a lot of effort, making her stand out from the mess that is the narrative. But credit where credit is due Kim Hyang-gi as Ji-woo does a splendid job. The intent of the film is obviously good, and it is true that the message it tries to send out is noble, but it took on bigger bites than it could ultimately chew. One would expect at least some heavy melodrama thrown in, but the film steers clear of that and remains light, with extra cheese on top, especially in its final moments. There are a murder case, corrupt lawyers and bullying of an autistic person in the rooster, and yet, the entire film oozes with feelings of light-warmheartedness, along with ample comedic moments. Still… this entire kerfuffle could have worked, were it not for the fact that a complete lack of decisiveness on what kind of film we are watching ebbs from every scene. Also, are there no laws in South Korea that would prevent a lawyer from basically stalking an under-age girl, even if it is for a case? Soon-ho and Ji-woo’s interactions do include some truly funny moments, but a shadow of inappropriateness hangs over most of their communication. The storyline is also very one-sidedly focused on Soon-ho and his interaction with Ji-woo, while the prosecutor appears only in some of the key points of the film – a proper under-use of Lee Kyu-hyung’s talent. The entire by-plot of Soon-ho’s work in the law firm as they try to make him into another sold soul feels almost like it belongs to a different film. There are several side stories, but they never get explored in depth – like Soon-ho’s relationship with his friend Soo-in, which doesn’t really serve a proper purpose except to hint that he might be interested in a romantic relationship despite the fears of his father, and she is also present to make Soon-ho feel guilty about his life choices. To begin with, the superficiality on various aspects of the plot makes the film more of a TV-movie than a cinematic experience. Innocent Witness is a problematic film on several accounts. Soon-ho senses that he could win the case easily if he could get the girl to testify in person and even though the prosecutor Hee-Joong (Lee Kyu-hyung) and the family try to stop him at first, he stubbornly approaches her to both win her trust and successfully communicate with her, which would enable him to put her on the stand. The case goes to court due to there being a witness – an autistic 15-year-old Ji-woo (Kim Hyang-gi), whose testimony was video-taped due to her condition. Soon-ho is to defend her she insists that there was no murder, but merely a suicide attempt that she unsuccessfully attempted to thwart. The chance comes in the form of a fairly simple case – an old man, who suffered from depression, is allegedly murdered by his housemaid. The film lets us know that his soul has not completely crossed over, no matter how disillusioned he seems to be, but his bosses are eyeing him as a possible partner – that is, if he is willing to “dirty” himself up a bit. Soon-ho (Jung Woo-sung) used to be a human rights lawyer, but switched to the dark side by getting a job in a privately owned law firm, to help pay off his family’s debt. Lee Han, known for his humanistic approach to feature films, tackles the topic of autism in a feature that aims to be several things: a courtroom drama, a crime film and a family drama, with elements of comedy and thriller thrown in. Autistic characters are not an unusual appearance in the world of cinema, but they are not as common in Asian film productions. ![]() ![]() ![]() Summer movies “Oppenheimer” (Universal), a biopic starring Cillian Murphy, and Mattel toy-inspired comedy “Barbie” (Warner Bros.) are eschewing festival launches in favor of intense marketing directing nominees Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”) and Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”) have never won the Oscar for Best Directing. The increasingly international Academy voters could push these films into contention in multiple categories, as they did “All Quiet on the Western Front,” “Parasite,” and “Drive My Car.” ![]() Never-nominated British director Jonathan Glazer won the grand prize for German-language “Zone of Interest” (A24), a hard-hitting holocaust movie starring Sandra Huller, who also toplines French director Justine Triet’s Palme d’Or winning courtroom thriller “Anatomy of a Fall” (Neon), which is about 50 percent in English. Anderson wouldn’t mind another crack at a Directing Oscar. Emerging from Cannes as a box-office hit is Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” (Focus), the auteur’s most accessible (and American) entry since “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” which earned nine nominations including Picture and Director and won four craft Oscars. Haynes has yet to land a directing Oscar nod. “Maestro” NetflixĬannes launched several veteran directors into the race, including “The Departed” Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese with his gangster epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” (AppleTV+/Paramount), starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro, and Lily Gladstone and Todd Haynes, with his bizarre truer-than-fiction “May December” (Netflix) starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman. Still, older male Academy members are a ripe target demo. And Ben Affleck could score the directing nomination denied him on Best Picture-winner “Argo,” although “Air” (Amazo n Studios/MGM) was neither as popular or critically hailed - it grossed as much as it cost ($90 million) at the worldwide box office. This season, “A Star is Born” director-star Bradley Cooper has a chance to land his first directing nod for “Maestro” (Netflix), in which he directs himself as composer Leonard Bernstein. Brooks came from television with “Terms of Endearment” (1983), and movie stars Robert Redford (“Ordinary People,” 1980) and Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves” 1990) won directing Oscars their first time behind the camera. It’s not unusual for a first-time director to get nominated or even to win: two stage-to-screen directors accomplished that feat with Delbert Mann (“Marty,” 1955) and Sam Mendes (“American Beauty,” 1999). ![]() |
